Tromso

Image
Early morning flight from Lofoten to Tromso. The Leknes airport staff did a really thorough check of our carry on bags. They were asking us about our go-pro stick, our drone, our gimbal. It was a nice short flight and we reached Tromso pretty early. Took a cab from airport to hotel as it seems like the price difference between cab and airport bus for 2 pax is minimal. I was really impressed with underground tunnels with junction circles! The hotel is new, modern, clean, beautiful and located right beside the water. They allowed us to check in early and we even got a room upgrade and was given a unit on the top floor as they were having a rave party by a famous spotify DJ in their ballroom. Seems like they like to party a lot :) Our stay in Tromso was for 5 days 4 nights as we wanted to maximize the chances of finding aurora this trip. We came to Tromso to look for this company called Chasing Light. We read that they are really dedicated to finding the chances of seeing...

Lofoten

Aboard the Wideroe; propeller plane. Leknes airport, in Lofoten. Second leg of the journey: Finally reached Leknes airport! We took domestic flights out from Alesund to Oslo. From Oslo to Bodo. And from Bodo to Lofoten. 3 domestic flights in a day. Got our car quickly from the rental company. Tried to find Offersoy but we went towards the wrong direction because information provided by website wasn't accurate.. Drove back and forth along E10 a bit and finally found it but the parking area was under renovation. So we skipped the hike and went to find our hotel instead. Hotel restaurant & reception is in the white building. Google map GPS brought us through some really small neighbourhood roads to get to Solsiden Brygge. The place looked desolate... and the wind was COLD. Walked around the restaurant, found the 'front desk' and a very helpful and friendly lady who showed us around and even recommended us a place to try hiking. (She said it wa...

Aalesund

This trip was made back on 8th October 2017. This is a really long overdued post. SGP --> Helsinki --> Tromso --> Aalesund. That's a REALLY long trip to get to our 1st destination. All in a day.. At the airport, we picked up a car from SIXT, the staff was very helpful. (Don't know why the reviews are bad online). We got a brand new car (Honda HRV). There was a very cute white cat at the carpark that charmed Shannon :) The cat was so manja (tenderly looking for affection); it came running towards Shannon, wagging its tail like a dog! It rubbed itself all over Shannon's and my legs, and our luggage. The cat seems to be a stray cat, and we have no idea but to leave it there. Till this day, i wonder how it is :( We drove straight towards Trollstigen as planned. The GPS and Google Map gave different directions, and we decided to follow Google Maps. I think the way provided by Google is faster, but has toll charges (quite expensive it seems). When...
